During my time at Holland&Barrett, I learned that there are loads of health benefits of turmeric and curcumin. Whilst some people claim that it can even cure cancer, I’m being a bit more careful – I don’t think we can ascribe that kind of power to turmeric. But it does work as an anti-inflammatory and is supposed to increase the antioxidant capacity of the body.
But the main reason I use turmeric is because it gives me a real boost when I’m feeling low. The week before last week I had a cold, which was a real bummer because two of my friends came over to enjoy Oxford! I made a turmeric drink that helped me feel way better. And now I’m sharing the recipe with you! You should drink this while it’s still hot. Turmeric is absorbed best by the body in combination with black pepper, an oily substance, and heat.
Ps. If you’re very fond of your white porcelain mugs, please don’t use them for this drink! The turmeric will leave yellow stains!
