If you’ve been following me for a while now you probably know that I love lavender. When I came across Faith in Nature Lavender & Geranium Shampoo I just had to try it. I couldn’t resist buying the conditioner, too. I tried it out – here’s what I thought!
What is Faith in Nature?
Faith in Nature, or FIN, was founded in 1974 on the belief that natural, ethical products should be available to everyone. Their founder Rivka Rose always had a passion for plants, a passion that flourished, becoming Faith in Nature. “[F]or the planet, we believe in harnessing the powers of nature, but not harming it in the process. We believe that using naturally derived, cruelty-free, vegan, ingredients is what makes our products work so beautifully”, they state on their website. Sounds good to me!
Lavender & Geranium Shampoo
The Lavender & Geranium shampoo promises to be made using 100% natural fragrance and made with essential oils. It is free from Parabens and SLS, vegan and cruelty-free, and 99% natural origin. I wonder what that last 1% is made out of then?
When opening the bottle I can smell the rich, lavender scent already. The smell of geranium is more subtle. The shampoo itself is quite runny – you only need a small squirt on your hand palm for it to lather richly. I can’t emphasise enough how amazing the scent is (although I might be slightly biased as I’ve always loved lavender). While massaging into my hair it doesn’t feel very soft yet, but I’m hoping the conditioner will do the trick. After rinsing my hair smells amazing! Now on to the conditioner…
Lavender & Geranium conditioner
As with the shampoo, this lavender & geranium conditioner is bullshit-free, so no Parabens, SLS or animal cruelty. It says on the packaging to apply conditioner to damp hair and leave on for 5 minutes. In the meanwhile I enjoy the rich scent of lavender (again, geranium not so much) and feel how this Faith in Nature product really “nourishes my hair and relaxes my senses” (yeah, that’s written on the bottle. Didn’t come up with that myself!). My hair feels soft already and I haven’t even rinsed it! After rinsing, my hair feels super soft. This stuff is amazing!
After washing & drying
Not only is it important to me how a shampoo or conditioner feels and smells like while showering, but also afterwards. After drying my hair it still smells very lush. The scent of lavender stayed in my hair for about two days, after which I washed it again. I don’t like heavily perfumed beauty products, but this product is subtle enough for it to be enjoyable.
I guess you already know what I’m going to say… YES, I would recommend this product. The only thing I was concerned about is the packaging. Because, well, let’s be straightforward: it’s plastic and that sucks. BUT! Yes, there is a but. Faith in Nature offers refills all over the country. Find yourself a refill station near you: click here for a list of refill stations. I love it when a company is innovative and tries to find ways to be kind to the planet! Please also note that Faith in Nature have solid shampoo bars. I haven’t tried those out yet, but after my positive experience with the solid version, I’m up for it!
