The Weekly Vegan Update #7

Vegan double cheeseburger with sweet potato fries

International Double Cheeseburger Day
I’ll take almost every opportunity to spread the word about veganism. When I read that International Double Cheeseburger Day (jeez, what a mouthful!) was coming up, I decided to make some delicious vegan burgers to show ’em how it’s done. I chose the Beyond Burger (Beyond Meat) which tastes so real that I had to check the packaging twice to see if it was really vegan! But it’s not a cheeseburger without cheese, which is why I used Violife cheese to make it even better. I had sweet potato fries with it which made it just perfect. I can’t wait till the next double cheeseburger day!

Elderberry jam
In other news today… I made elderberry jam this week and it’s absolutely divine. I had croissants with elderberry jam yesterday, tres délixieus! Every year I’m slightly worried I might poison myself (elderberry seeds contain a cyanide including glycosides) but I’ve survived the first spoonful of jam so it’s all safe. If you want to make elderberry jam please always make sure you’re picking them from the right plant and when you’ve done so, cook the berries to destroy the glycosides. ⁣I’ll make sure to put the recipe on the website asap so you can enjoy your own home-made elderberry jam as well!
